Japanese IV (2020)
Audrey Néron | Happiness Series
Mixed media on canvas sheet (acrylic, silk paper, Japanese candy wrapper, pastel, ink & china marker)
8 × 10 in (20.32 × 25.4 cm)
Original artwork — framed in white & varnished
Curatorial Note
Japanese IV unfolds in a luminous, dream-like ecosystem where color, texture, and instinctive gesture merge. Part of Néron’s Happiness Series, this work draws from spring renewal, playful Japanese candy wrappers, and the light visuals of digital culture (stickers, emojis, pastel gradients).
A hummingbird-like figure rises at the center of the composition, suspended within layers of violet, neon coral, soft blush tones, and iridescent detailing. Movement remains fluid but intentional each stroke oscillates between spontaneity and controlled rhythm, creating a visual sanctuary that hums with renewal, sweetness, and air.
This piece embodies Néron’s recurring themes: renewal, sensory clarity, emotional lightness, and the quiet joy of noticing beauty in small things.

Artist’s Note
“This series was born from a craving for softness after winter Japanese candy wrappers I’d kept in a drawer, pastel spring emojis in my stories, and the emotional clarity that comes with light returning. These small fragments became color, gesture, wings.”
