Curator’s Note
Japanese II unfolds like a spring awakening—vivid, playful, and luminous. Part of Audrey Néron’s Happiness Series, the work captures the renewed energy of the season through layered mixed media textures, whimsical color accents, and delicate cut fragments of Japanese candy wrappers that evoke celebration and child-like wonder.
Bird-like figures, floral echoes and gestures suspended in motion create an atmosphere both fantastical and intimate. Néron’s brushwork balances spontaneity with restraint, allowing vibrant purples, citrus oranges, and petal-pink tones to bloom across the surface.
This piece exists in that rare space between joy and quiet contemplation: light-hearted, yet textured with emotional depth. Japanese II is not simply decorative—it radiates energy, buoyancy, and renewal.
Artist’s Note
The Happiness Series grew from a desire to reignite color and vitality after winter.
Spring symbols that appeared constantly in my social media stories—flowers, butterflies, tiny emoji birds—made their way into the work. So did the beautifully wrapped Japanese candies I kept seeing in a drawer.
They became fragments of celebration, infused into the layers.
