In Freedom-1 (2020), Audrey Néron takes us on a sensory exploration of freedom through a rich composition of textures and vibrant colors. As part of the Happiness series, this work is inspired by the delicate wrappers of Japanese candy, Facebook story stickers, and the renewal of the spring season, evoking a sense of lightness and transformation.

The central butterfly, a symbol of metamorphosis and the quest for liberation, exudes an almost tangible delicacy. Its silk-paper wings stand in stark contrast to the bold swaths of red and violet in the background. This juxtaposition creates a captivating visual tension between the fragility of the butterfly and the power of the surrounding colors.

The use of golden sheets adds luminous reflections, capturing light in a subtle yet mesmerizing way, while the acrylic layers provide striking depth and texture. The silk paper enhances the tactile dimension, reinforcing the idea of lightness and movement, as if the butterfly were poised to take flight at any moment.
