In "Still Life I," Audrey Néron revisits the traditional genre of still life with a resolutely contemporary approach. This work, part of the Humans Landscape series, offers a complex vision where natural symbolism intertwines with surreal and dreamlike imagery.

Néron's choice to combine acrylic, oil, and china marker on a canvas board gives the composition a textural richness that intrigues the viewer. The natural elements, which might typically evoke a tranquil scene of life, are here transfigured by a vibrant palette and distorted forms, creating a tension between the familiar and the strange. The animals, with blurred and distorted contours, seem caught in a chaotic dance, a frozen ballet between life and death, natural beauty and an underlying brutality.

The use of the china marker introduces sharp, contrasting lines that cut through the fluidity of the brushstrokes, adding an almost aggressive graphic dimension to the scene.
