Curator’s Note
Egocentrix (2019) is a compelling work from Audrey Néron’s Abstract Series, a visceral exploration of introspection, identity, and the raw anatomy of ego. The central composition evokes a symbolic window or psychological mirror—outlined by tense, gestural lines that pulse with movement and layered meaning.
The interplay of deep blacks, vibrant reds, tranquil blues, and airy pastels reflects a delicate balance between emotional chaos and compositional control. The graphite gestures traverse the painted surface like neurons firing, grounding the composition in a map of thought.
Néron’s layered technique—a synthesis of acrylic, pastel, spray paint, and graphite—reveals an instinctive yet refined approach to abstraction. Each element is charged with emotional resonance, inviting viewers to consider the space between inner turbulence and self-awareness.
Egocentrix stands as a visual confrontation: an invitation to peer inward through layers of tension, fragility, and transformation.
Artist’s Note
“Egocentrix was born out of a moment of necessary self-distance—a raw encounter with that part of ourselves that demands, controls, insists. Through this work, I wanted to paint that dynamic force of the ego: brilliant, exhausting, chaotic, illuminating. The center became a portal—an abstract reflection of the struggle to understand the self.”
