Artistic Approach – Avium Caos Series – Audrey Néron
My artistic practice lies at the intersection of abstraction and figuration, exploring the connections between mythology, nature, and human emotion. Through my works, I aim to capture worlds where chaos and harmony coexist, revealing timeless stories that resonate with the viewer.
With the Avium Caos series, I continue the exploration initiated in Garden of Delight, drawing inspiration from the rich and dreamlike universe of Hieronymus Bosch and incorporating the influence of Frans Snyders, the Flemish painter renowned for his vibrant animal depictions. This series was born from an immersive experience on Howe Island, where the vibrant ecosystem, teeming with hundreds of birds, shaped every brushstroke. Working outdoors, by the water’s edge, I sought to translate the birds’ songs, the unpredictable flutter of their wings, and the raw energy of this natural environment.
Avium Caos unfolds in two complementary chapters: colorful works that celebrate the vitality and intensity of wildlife, and black-and-white pieces focused on pure movement. The former convey organic chaos through vibrant hues and abstract forms, while the latter capture wingbeats, sudden flights, and the birds’ unpredictable trajectories, like graphic snapshots of a frenetic dance.
Through this series, I wish to invite the viewer to dive into a world in perpetual motion, where the raw energy and fleeting beauty of nature express themselves in chaotic harmony. Each piece reflects the tension between the static and the fluid, between the frozen moment and eternity.
My artistic process favors an intuitive approach, where every material, every color, and every texture tells a story. The works in Avium Caos embody this constant search for balance between narrative and emotion, offering the viewer a space for personal interpretation and reflection.
Thus, Avium Caos goes beyond simply representing nature: this series aspires to capture its dynamic essence, its contradictions, and its subtleties, while transposing it into a universal visual language.
